Months after the project began, we have uprooted from the Northern fringes of town and planted ourselves in Downtown Rapid City. We’re finally here! and pleased to be part of the thriving downtown scene, calling many old friends (and lots of new ones) “neighbor.”
A Renovation Timeline :: Part 5 :: October 2016
Our Downtown HQ is a marriage of old and new: Freshly painted walls meet scored concrete flooring; our open kitchen features pale blonde cabinetry just a few steps away from the reception area, backed by the age and character of a wall fashioned from reclaimed wood planks from the original building as it was years ago. The conference room is an eclectic combination of new and reclaimed wood, reinforced polycarbonate panels (say that five times fast!) and a vintage railroad shipping container – the perfect staging area for brainstorming sessions or the occasional karaoke performance, depending on the mood. Exposed brick reaches upward to a lofty open ceiling showcasing both original materials and shiny stainless pipes and joists, depending on where you look.

A Renovation Timeline :: Part 4 :: September 2016
The Evergreen Media team really knows how to party! And by “party,” we mean crack open a can of paint and bring a little life to the walls of our new office space; there was pizza involved, so we’re pretty sure this event counts as a party. The whole team gathered at the end of the workday to brush and roll our way to a brighter, more colorful work space. From a classy gray-taupe in Rick’s office to autumnal shades of red, orange, green and gold marching down the hall, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Publishers are traditionally known for having ink under their fingernails; we upped the ante by mixing in a little paint!
During the month of August, a significant amount of work was done to frame out the interior of our new building. Individual offices began to take shape and we were able to visualize where we would sit to complete our work, gather as a team or welcome clients and visitors. What once lived only in our mind’s eye was vividly brought to life one 2 x 4 at a time through the combined efforts of many hands.

As our new offices came together, we had the pleasure of working with talented local professionals who brought our vision for a light-filled, vintage-meets-modern collaborative work space to life.
When the chance to be part of Downtown Rapid City arose in 2015, we did a collective fist pump and immediately began planning our big move.
Visitor Publishing (now Evergreen Media) was built on the premise that a thriving local business community is a vital component to the success of the greater Black Hills community; carrying out our mission in a historic building in the heart of the action was an opportunity we simply couldn’t pass up.
